A Hand for the Environment

Materials Used: Poster paint and mixed media

The sea is polluted by waste and the dead fishes shows just how bad the pollution is. Factories contribute to the pollution as well as they release toxic gases and waste into the air and river. The hand in the centre represents the earth, asking for help to stop the pollution.

How did you come up with the idea for this artwork? How much help did the teacher give?

From a mindmap based on the environment, we came up with the theme ‘pollution’, as it is one of the critical issues that is plaguing the world now.

What are some of the difficulties faced when making the work?

It was difficult to paint in the style of certain artists.

(For groups) How did you come to a consensus on any decisions?

We discussed and took turns making decisions.

What have you learnt from this extended art project? (technical or about the environment)

We have learnt different styles of painting and different artists.

Did you make any sketches, preparatory studies before commencing on this?

We planned what we wanted, drew a sketch and then used Adobe Photoshop to arrange the composition.

If you had more resources, what will you improve for the art work? Or not at all?

We like the painting the way it is.
