Name(s): Soh Hui Ling Sharon, Jeanette Lai Yan Ling Class: Sec 204 Noise Pollution Materials Used: Poster paint and mixed media This piece of work is about noise pollution. The girl is listening to music ‘softly’, thus creating a better world for others. As much as she loves music, she also has consideration for others and the environment. How did you come up with the idea for this artwork? How much help did the teacher give? We came up with 3 different ideas and decided on this as it conveys the message simply. Advice was given to us on how to improvise and touch up on our work. What are some of the difficulties faced when making the work? At times edges of the individual pieces do not fit perfectly due to the different styles on each piece. (For groups) How did you come to a consensus on any decisions? From the beginning, we decided on this piece because we wanted a piece that is simple and yet conveys a very important message. We took turns to chose the different styles, so that it is fair. What have you learnt from this extended art project? (technical or about the environment) We have learnt about the many different styles of painting. We have also learnt that protecting the environment can start from a simple act such as using a headphone, instead of blasting music. Everyone plays a part in protecting this environment we live in. Did you make any sketches, preparatory studies before commencing on this? Yes, we had a few sketches before drawing out the actual pieces. We also researched on the different artists and their ndividual styles. If you had more resources, what will you improve for the art work? Or not at all? If we had more resources, we would gladly improve the work further.
